About Us

Cottage Quilt Designs started as a cottage industry in December 2004, since then we have been serving quilt shops in Michigan. With this web site we can now welcome retail customers as well as quilt shop owners all over the globe to our business.

Rochelle Martin - the quilt designer - has been quilting for over 18 years and has honed her skills through the years by designing and making quilt tops for the Frankenmuth Woolen Mill. They tie and fill the quilts with their wonderful wool batting.

Rochelle's designs has also been frequently published in quilting magazines, books by House of White Birches and designs patterns for fabric companies.

She also teaches a hand appliqué club at Fabric Fair, a quilt shop in Bay City, MI.

Laura Day-author of Orchid Remembrance, the Isabelle and Tara quilt mystery series and other stories has been writing since she was a child. Laura, Rochelle's daughter, currently writes the Isabelle and Tara series since 2006 for Cotton Spicewhich is an online magazine. They hope to publish soon their book titled Strangledby Wild Geese. It will be a combination of Laura's story which is the first segment in the mystery series and quilt projects Rochelle has developed using flying geese segments.

Laura lives with her husband, Kevin and their two cats in an old 1800's farmhouse
which they are restoring in mid-Michigan.
